- If you contact The Distraction or DefectiveRobot LLC through your email app, including for support, booking inquiries, or merchandise hold requests, any information you include is provided voluntarily and is handled through your email provider.
- If you use a sharing feature, the content you choose to share is sent only through the external app or service you select.
2. Music, Events, and Show Information
- The app provides information related to music, performances, events, show dates, venues, venue addresses, tickets, and related activities.
- Event information is downloaded from a publicly published, Google-hosted event feed maintained for The Distraction.
- Loading this event feed requires a standard internet connection. The app does not use the event feed to collect your name, precise location, or other personal information.
- The display of a venue address does not mean the app is collecting or tracking your location.
3. Location Information
- The Distraction does not collect your precise location.
- The app does not track your movements or store your location on a developer-owned server.
- The app does not require location permission to display event listings, venue names, or venue addresses.
- Venue addresses shown in the app are part of the event information provided to users and are not based on your current location.
4. Maps and Directions
- The app may allow you to open a venue address in Apple Maps or another external mapping service.
- The Distraction does not determine, collect, or store your location when displaying a venue address.
- An external mapping or navigation service may request or use your location according to its own privacy policy, permissions, and device settings.
- Once you open an external mapping service, that service’s privacy practices apply.
5. Notifications
- The app may request permission to send local event reminders.
- You may choose to receive a reminder one week before or one day before an upcoming event. These reminders are scheduled on your device using event information downloaded by the app.
- Your reminder preferences are stored locally on your device.
- You may disable notifications through the app or your device settings.
- The app does not use notifications for location tracking or behavioral advertising.
6. Information Stored on Your Device
The app may store limited information locally on your device, including:
- Event-reminder preferences
- Basic app settings
- The number of times the app has been opened
- Whether you indicated that you rated the app
This information is used only for app functionality.
The app does not maintain a user account system.
The app does not upload these locally stored preferences to a developer-owned server.
7. Sharing of Information
- The app does not sell your personal information.
- The app does not share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
- Information stored locally by the app remains on your device unless you choose to interact with an external service.
- If you choose to share music, an event, a score, a social-media link, or other content, the information is handled by the external app or service you select through your device’s sharing system.
8. Merchandise Hold Requests
- The app may allow you to prepare an email requesting that merchandise be held for pickup at a future show.
- The app does not process payments.
- The app does not offer shipping through the app.
- Submitting a merchandise hold request does not guarantee availability until it is confirmed separately by email.
- Any personal information included in the request is handled through your email provider and the recipient’s email service.
9. External Links and Services
The app may include links to external services such as:
- Music platforms
- Video services
- Social-media pages
- App stores
- Ticketing services
- Venue websites
- Email services
- Mapping and navigation services
- Other websites or apps
External services have their own privacy policies and terms. When you open an external service, its privacy practices apply.
10. Permissions and Device Access
- The Distraction only requests device access reasonably necessary for features you choose to use.
- The app may request notification permission if you enable event reminders.
- The app does not request location permission for its main features.
- An external mapping, email, music, social-media, or sharing service may request additional permissions after you choose to open it. Those permissions are controlled by that service, your device settings, and your platform settings.
11. Advertising
- The Distraction does not use your location for advertising.
- The app does not sell personal information for advertising purposes.
- The current version of the app does not include third-party behavioral advertising or advertising tracking.
- If advertising or third-party promotional services are added in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated to explain those practices.
12. Data Retention and Deletion
- Information stored locally by the app remains on your device unless you delete the app or remove the information through available device or app settings.
- On iOS, deleting the app removes its locally stored app data, subject to Apple’s platform behavior.
- Information you voluntarily provide to an external service is handled according to that service’s retention and deletion practices.
13. Children’s Privacy
The Distraction is not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
14. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.
If it is updated, the revised version will be displayed with a new effective date.
