Information you provide

• The app requires users to create an account to access its primary features.
• When creating an account, you may provide an email address, password, and public display name.
• Your password is processed and managed through Firebase Authentication. The developer does not have access to your unencrypted password.
• The app may assign an identification number to your player profile.
• You may choose a player icon and may create or join private leagues.
• Information associated with league activity may include league names, membership, ownership status, invitations, and join codes.
• The app records the football game selections you make, including weekly picks and the teams you select.
• The app may store friend requests, accepted friendships, league invitations, and other social connections you choose to create.
• Public profile information may include your display name, player number, player icon, prediction record, accuracy, rankings, and football prediction statistics.

How information is used

Information handled by TheFootballThing is used to:

• Create and maintain your account.
• Identify your player profile when you sign in.
• Save and display your weekly football selections.
• Calculate wins, losses, ties, prediction accuracy, rankings, and historical statistics.
• Display public rankings and public player profiles.
• Allow users to send and respond to friend requests.
• Allow users to create, join, manage, and participate in private leagues.
• Prevent duplicate display names and administer player identification numbers.
• Maintain app security, account access, and the reliable operation of app features.

How information is stored

• Account and app information may be stored remotely using Google Firebase services, including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Functions.
• Information stored remotely may include your email address, account identifier, display name, player number, selected icon, football picks, results, statistics, friendships, leagues, invitations, and related app activity.
• Some settings or temporary information may also be stored locally on your device when necessary for app operation.
• Information may remain associated with your account until it is deleted or is no longer reasonably necessary to provide the app’s services.

Firebase and service providers

TheFootballThing uses Google Firebase to provide account authentication, cloud data storage, server-side functions, and other technical infrastructure.

Google may process limited technical information needed to provide these services, such as device information, IP address, authentication activity, security information, and service diagnostics.

Information handled by Google is subject to Google’s applicable privacy policies and service terms.

Public information

• Your display name, player number, player icon, rankings, football prediction record, and certain statistics may be visible to other users.
• Members of a private league may be able to view the profiles and statistics of other league members.
• Friend requests, friendships, league invitations, and league membership may be visible to the users involved.
• Do not use a display name or league name that contains private, confidential, or sensitive personal information.

Sharing of information

• TheFootballThing does not sell your personal information.
• The developer does not share your personal information with advertisers.
• Information may be processed by service providers, such as Google Firebase, when necessary to operate the app.
• Information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce app policies, protect users, prevent fraud or misuse, or protect the rights and safety of the developer or others.
• If you choose to share the app through your device’s sharing feature, the content you share is sent through the external app or service you select.

App features and device behavior

The app provides features including:

• Account creation and sign-in.
• Password reset emails.
• Weekly football selections.
• Player records and prediction statistics.
• Public rankings and public player profiles.

The app may use basic device functions needed to open the device sharing menu, an app marketplace, a website, an email application, or another external service. These actions occur only when you select the related feature.

If you open an external website, app marketplace, email application, or sharing service from TheFootballThing, you leave the TheFootballThing app experience.

The privacy policy and terms of the external website, marketplace, application, or service will then apply.

Permissions

TheFootballThing only requests device access reasonably necessary to provide the features you choose to use.

Internet access is required for account authentication, cloud data storage, football selections, statistics, rankings, friendships, leagues, and other online features.

Data security

Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect information associated with the app.

However, no internet transmission, cloud service, account system, or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for protecting your password and maintaining control of the email account connected to your TheFootballThing account.

Data retention and account deletion

• Information may remain stored while your account is active or while it is reasonably necessary to provide app services.
• Some records may be retained when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or maintaining accurate competition results.
• You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information by contacting the developer.
• A deletion request should be sent from the email address associated with your account when possible.
• Certain anonymized, aggregated, legally required, or competition-related records may be retained when permitted by law.
• Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete information stored through Firebase or delete your TheFootballThing account.

Children’s privacy

TheFootballThing is not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If the developer learns that personal information was collected from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, reasonable steps will be taken to delete it.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.

When it is updated, the revised policy will be provided with a new effective date.
