Last updated: July 18, 2026

Overview

Sound K-9 is a sound exposure planner and activity log created by DefectiveRobot LLC. The app helps users organize sound routines, choose or add sounds, use manual playback controls, schedule exposure times, and review activity history.

We respect your privacy. Sound K-9 is designed as a local-first app. The app does not require an account, does not ask users to sign in, and does not upload dog names, routines, notes, activity logs, or custom sounds to DefectiveRobot LLC servers.

Information Stored by the App

Sound K-9 may store dog names, routine names, selected sounds, scheduled exposure times, volume settings, duration settings, exposure counts, routine notes, activity log entries, and custom sound names locally on your device.

This information is used only to provide the app’s sound library, manual controls, routine builder, routine history, and activity log features.

Dog Information

Sound K-9 keeps dog records simple. Dog names may be saved so users can organize routines and activity history by dog.

Dog names and related routine history remain on your device unless you choose to share information using tools provided by your device.

Routines and Activity Log

Sound K-9 allows users to create, review, and edit routines. A routine may include a dog name, routine name, sounds, notes, volume, duration, exposure count, and scheduled exposure times.

Activity log entries may include dog name, sound name, routine name, volume, duration, exposure count, notes, date, and time information. This information is stored locally on the device and is not uploaded to DefectiveRobot LLC servers.

Manual Sound Controls

Sound K-9 includes manual sound controls for playing one sound or a mix of sounds. Users control playback, stop playback, continuous playback, volume, and duration from inside the app.

Sound K-9 does not automatically play sounds from a remote server. Playback is controlled by the user inside the app.

Microphone Access and Custom Recordings

Sound K-9 may request microphone access if you choose to record a custom sound. The microphone is used only when you start a recording inside the app.

Custom recordings are saved locally on your device and can be used as custom sounds inside Sound K-9. Custom recordings are not uploaded to DefectiveRobot LLC servers by the app.

Imported Audio Files

Sound K-9 allows users to import audio files through Apple’s Files picker. Imported audio files are copied into the app’s local storage so they can be used as custom sounds.

Sound K-9 does not browse the internet, search websites, or download audio files from URLs on its own. You choose which audio files to import from the files available on your device or through the Files app.

Accounts and Sign-In

Sound K-9 does not require user accounts, login systems, usernames, passwords, online profiles, or cloud syncing in this version.

Ads, Analytics, and Purchases

Sound K-9 does not currently use third-party ads, third-party analytics, in-app purchases, subscriptions, or paid account features.

Data Sharing

Sound K-9 does not send dog names, custom sounds, routines, activity logs, notes, or imported audio files to DefectiveRobot LLC servers.

Information saved in the app remains on your device unless you choose to share it using features provided by your device, such as the iOS share sheet, backup tools, file tools, or other system-level services.

No Selling of Personal Data

DefectiveRobot LLC does not sell personal data collected through Sound K-9.

Deleting Local Data

You can delete local app data by using Reset Local Data inside the app, deleting individual items where available, clearing app data through your device settings where available, or uninstalling the app from your device.

Reset Local Data removes dog names, custom sounds, routines, and activity log entries stored by Sound K-9 on that device.

Device Permissions

Sound K-9 may request microphone access for custom sound recording. The app may also use Apple’s Files picker when you choose to import an audio file.

Permission prompts are controlled by the operating system. You can review or change app permissions in your device settings.

Third-Party Links

The app or website may include links to DefectiveRobot developer pages, support pages, privacy pages, or app store pages. If you open an external link, that website or app store may have its own privacy practices.

We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external websites or app stores.

Children's Privacy

Sound K-9 does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not include accounts, public posting, chat, community features, or social sharing inside the app.

Because Sound K-9 is designed to store information locally on the device and does not require an account, no personal information is knowingly collected from children by DefectiveRobot LLC through the app.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
